Sir Ronald Cohen was co-founder Chair of Big Society Capital and still sits on the Board as a non-executive Director. He is Chair of the Global Social Impact Investment Steering Group and previously chaired the Social Impact Investment Taskforce established under the UK's presidency of the G8. He is co-founder and Chair of The Portland Trust, and co-founder and former Chair of Bridges Ventures. He co-founded Social Finance in the UK, US and Israel.
He is a co-founder and former Chair of Apax Partners, one of the world’s leading private equity investment groups. He is a member of the Board of Dean's Advisors at Harvard Business School, and a Vice-Chairman of Ben Gurion University. He is a former member of both the Harvard Management Company and the University of Oxford Investment Committee. He was a founder Director and past Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association and a founder Director of the European Venture Capital Association.
